So it’s been a while since I posted, I know, and I’m sorry for that. There’s just been a lot going on. I’ve had real-life commitments, there’s been general laziness, but the key factor for my lack of communication is I’ve just been really busy gaming. Now, I know it may seem a bit contradictory that I would be too busy gaming to post on my gaming blog. To those who feel this way, I ask you this. Have you ever been too busy being a douche to drop a post on www.ImABigOlDouche.com?
We just stole your editor. How you like them apples?

One of the founders of IGN and long time Nintendo reviewer Matt Casamassina has stated on his blog that, after 13 years of service, he is leaving IGN to join up with Apple as their “Global Editorial Games Manager”. If you’re as confused by that title as I was, here’s a snippet of his description [...]

I know the term “hardcore” is thrown around a lot in the gaming community, often with negative connotation, but there’s really no other way to describe Section 8 other than hardcore. It eats other “hardcore” first person shooters for breakfast. Any seasoned FPS gamer with countless hours of Halo and Modern Warfare play under their belt, [...]

It’s official. Vince Zampella and Jason West, former Activision heads who jumped ship last month (March), have been picked up by EA. They’ll be forming a new studio called Respawn Entertainment with Zampella as General Manager. So those are the facts. Now for the opinion. I can’t help but think, since Zampella and West left [...]

Lately I’ve been talking a lot about innovation, where it comes from, and how it moves the gaming industry forward. It seems, to me at least, that much of what I consider innovation these days comes from the simplest designs. Perhaps it’s because, once you strip away all the things we associate with gaming but [...]

For those TF2 fans out there, thought I’d share the latest news from over at Valve regarding their last round of unlocks to be released. All classes in the game have received their new weapons and gadgets save for one class, the Engineer, and the developers over at Valve have been hard at work for [...]

Servers on East Coast were up at 1am today and, now at 9:30pm, they are down. It appears to be a authentication server issue. No update on Battlefield blog yet. Waiting for a word from them. UPDATE: And just like that they are back up, 10 min later. A delightful hiccup. Although I’m sure EA [...]

John Carmack has finally figured out which side his bread is buttered. After years of struggling to find a foothold in today’s gaming market, the father of the FPS has gotten back to the basics and, in turn, perhaps breathed new life into his once stagnant franchises. In the early 2000′s, like many other “old-school” [...]
